Resort Overview for Schladming: Once a small mining town in the state of Styra, Schladming is now a large ski resort popular with both locals and tourists. The locals are friendly and many skiers find themselves returning year after year.

Summer activities in Schladming range from walks, waterfall visits, rope activities, glacier skiing, ice palace tours, swimming, canoeing, rafting, horse riding and cycling. The nearest International airport to Schladming is Salzburg, which can be driven in approximately 1.5 hours. Schladming also has a train station linking it directly with Salzburg airport.
The Skiing in Schladming: The skiing area for Schladming is available on two mountains; Planai and Hochwurzen (1894m and 1850 meters, respectively), are both served from the resort by gondolas and chair lifts. All abilities will find something to suit them, but the skiing areas are slightly better for intermediate to advanced skiers.
These two main mountains are also linked into the neighbouring mountains - Reiteralm (1960m) and Hauser Kaibling (2015m), creating four linked mountains with over 170 km of runs. This offers a huge skiing area with some of the longest runs in Europe. Try out the 7.7 km Hochwurzen Valley run!!
Schladming also offers ski parks, half-pipes, jumps and plenty of off-piste skiing. Ski schools are also available in Schladming.
Après Ski in Schladming:Schladming has a good selection of apres ski activities, and there are a decent range of pubs to pick from when you've finished on the slopes. Some nights you can stay up the mountain and the lifts operating after-hours to get you home again. Also check out Tenne at the bottom of the main Planai lift for some lively apres ski drinks.
Other activities include tobogganing, bowling, ice-skating, swimming and tennis – amongst others.
