Resort Overview for Sixt Fer à Cheval: Sixt Fer a Cheval is a small village linked in to the Grand Massif ski area. With a traditional alpine feel, this resort feels like you have turned back the hands of time.
Located around a 12th century abbey, Sixt has been given the label of one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Winter visitors do not just come here for the skiing alone, they come for a whole range of activities, including dog sledding, snow trekking, ice climbing and cross-country skiing.
The village also makes for an ideal summer destination with lots of walking and climbing on offer, set amongst some truly stunning surroundings.
A regular bus service is available between the village and nearby resorts, Morillon and Samoens.
The Skiing in Sixt Fer à Cheval: Whilst skiing from the village itself only offers about 30km over a handful of runs, there is a fantastic 14km run dropping down from Flaine, linking this resort to over 250km of runs in the Grand Massif ski area.
Skiers can opt for the local pass at a lower price or go for the full pass to the whole of Grand Massif, offering access to the resorts of Les Carroz, Flaine, Morillon and Samoens.
Runs are fairly evenly spread to suit all levels of skier.
Après Ski in Sixt Fer à Cheval:Sixt does not offer many lively places in the way of apres ski, but there are a handful of bars and restaurants available. The closest cinema is located in the neighbouring resort of Samoens.
