Resort Overview for St Jean D'Aulps : St Jean d'Aulps is a small, picturesque village located just over an hour from Geneva airport. It has only 1,000 residents and offers a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The resort is ideally suited to families and offers various on and off slope activities such as snowshoe trekking, hot air ballooning, paragliding and cross-country skiing.
During the summer there are over 200km of sign-posted footpaths allowing you to explore the Vallee d'Aulps, covering nearby lakes and villages. And If you’re feeling energetic you can even walk all the way up to the mountain tops!
The Skiing in St Jean D'Aulps : The local ski area, La Grande Terche, offers 20 uncrowded runs, totalling 34km. The area is predominantly suited to families and beginners but there’s also some off-piste skiing available for the more adventurous.
La Grande Terche is situated just above the St Jean D’Aulps village and is just under a 10 minute drive away. A free shuttle bus runs between the town and the ski area approximately every 30 minutes throughout the day.
Whilst St Jean D'Aulps is considered part of the Portes Du Soleil ski area, La Grande Terche is not actually linked with it directly. Skiers will need to take the short drive up the road to nearby Morzine to access Portes Du Soleil. A car is necessary for this, but certainly well worth the trip. Portes Du Soleil offers 650km of pistes, spanning France and Switzerland, covering 14 different ski resorts!
Après Ski in St Jean D'Aulps :St Jean D'Aulps offers some decent priced bars and restaurants, with friendly, relaxed atmospheres.
Events are regularly held in the village and are well-suited to families. Younger crowds may wish to take the short trip to livelier Morzine or Les Gets.
